Starting a Garden?

Logo
Back at home I had the prettiest garden with my sister Elizabeth. Okay, it wasn’t that pretty because it was just a vegetable and fruit garden, but I really loved it. We also had a community garden in the town that we lived in it and that was also great. Unfortunately for me, there is no garden here, but I would absolutely love to start one. This though, has its problems, the biggest being financial. Gardening is expensive because you have to have seeds to plant as well as a host of other supplies like tools, fertilizers, etc to keep it going. This does not mean though, that it would be impossible to have a garden. In fact, I just heard about a great new grant called Project Orange Thumb. A Project Orange Thumb grant can be given to anyone person or group of people who are interested in starting or maintaining a neighborhood garden. These gardens can be for aesthetic purposes, horticultural education, green, or sustainable agriculture. If you are given a grant, you and your group can be given up $1000 in green goods and up to $1,500 in Fiskars gardening supplies. All entries must be received by February 17, 2009. If you have been thinking about starting a garden for your community, then definitely check out the above link!
