Don't Go There

Dontgothere
Once, when I was about 20, I went with my family to Friendship, Wisconsin and let me tell you, I do not want to go there ever again. The town itself wasn’t so bad, but the rental house that we stayed at was absolutely awful- don't go there. The house sounded really nice before we got there, but once we got there, we realized that something was pretty off. For one thing, the whole lower level, really strongly in the bedrooms, had this awful, awful smell to it that we couldn’t figure out there—it sort of smelled like a dead animal mixed in with other nastiness. After we had been there for a few days, we discovered that we had another problem—mice and a lot of them! We set traps, and all I can say is that I still cringe when I think of the awful sound that spring made when it caught one. Yuck, I’m just glad that I didn’t have to throw them out. Also, the amount of travel time it took to get there from California was pretty bad. I was up for over 35 hours by the time I was able to get to bed. Let me tell you, not fun as I do not do overly tired very well. The weather was also super wacky when we went, one day it was 70 degrees and the next it was 25. Other than that, I did think that Wisconsin was a really, really pretty place to visit, I just think that we did not luck out at all when it came to our rental house!

If you have any travel horror stories that you would like to share, then I suggest that you visit www.dontgothere.org. It is this new site that will keep you up to date on all of the places not to visit! Peter Greenberg, the travel correspondent for NBC, has a new book coming out, “Don’t Go There” and the website goes along with his book. Check It out!
